Join us for Sk8 to Elimin8 Cancer ™ Simsbury, Connecticut
April 26-27, 2024, at the International Skating Center of Connecticut

Cancer knows no bounds of gender, age, or race - it impacts everyone.  In 2024, a little more than 2 million new cancer cases will be diagnosed in the US alone, and 611,720 people will die.  That's more than 1 person every minute dying because of this terrible disease.

The International Skating Center of Connecticut is proud to partner with the Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation (CARES) to present Sk8 to Elimin8 Cancer™ Simsbury!  Proceeds from this event will support CARES' national cancer research and their healthcare partners at Connecticut Children's

Here's How You Can Get Involved!

Participate and Fundraise
1) Register for $35 to start fundraising and receive your Sk8 to Elimin8 Cancer™ t-shirt.  We'll celebrate your efforts with items from our recognition program, and you can earn special Simsbury-only incentives including opportunities to appear in our Celebration Ice Show!

2) Grow our community by asking your family and friends to sign up with you or donate to your page.  Post about why supporting cancer research matters to you and invite others to join you on social media!

3) Fundraise for cancer research!  Every dollar you raise supports critical cancer research through CARES and our healthcare partners at Connecticut Children's.

3) Celebrate with us at our supporting events!  For event-by-event details, see below.

Support a Participant by Donating
When you donate to a participant's fundraising goal, you are not only supporting them but providing crucial funding for cancer research.   The Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation funds cancer research at NCI-accredited facilities across the nation, and we are proud to work with our healthcare partners at Connecticut Children's.

Celebrate with Us!
Anyone can attend our celebrations!  All admissions and door donations will continue to support our fundraising efforts for cancer research.

The Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation is dedicated to changing the future of cancer by funding advanced, innovative research that treats the cancer while sparing the patient. CARES is an established 501(c)3 and a national identity in the cancer community.  CARES, which stands for Cancer Alliance for Research, Education, and Survivorship, is creating a cancer network built upon strong partnerships with leading institutions, cancer support groups, and researchers to improve the quality of life and provide better outcomes for those living with cancer.

A portion of the net proceeds from this event will stay local and support our Connecticut healthcare partners, Connecticut Children's

Connecticut Children’s is a nationally recognized, 187-bed not-for-profit children’s hospital in Hartford, Connecticut. Ranked by U.S. News & World Report as one of the best children’s hospitals in the nation, Connecticut Children's fosters a patient- and family-centered environment with a focus on research, education, and advocacy. All of Connecticut Children’s resources are put towards supporting their mission to improve the physical and emotional health of all children.

Cancer research has long been a priority for Connecticut Children’s. From clinical trials to gene splicing, we are tackling the problem on many fronts, all made possible through donated funds that are simply not available elsewhere (96 percent of federal cancer research dollars go to adult cancer, leaving pediatric cancer to rely on philanthropy).

Connecticut Children's nationally-known researchers are pushing the boundaries for developing personalized treatment plans based on whole genome analysis of tumors. As one of 200+ international members of the National Children’s Oncology Group, Connecticut Children's has more than 100 active clinical trials open at any time.
