Hi!! I have a fun new fundraising opportunity. It's called Nicole's Figure Skating Challenge and it lets you make me earn your donation by performing skating elements that you request. I will record everything you request the morning of Oct. 16 and send you evidence later that day or on the 17th at the latest. Donations will be due by Oct. 18 at 11:55 p.m. (which is when the entire fundraiser ends). You choose the amount to donate based on how much you like how well I execute the skills you request. I love this because figure skating kept me physically and emotionally healthy during my treatments and procedures, so now I can give back by having my skating support cancer research and treatment. Select the elements you would like me to record for you here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScTm2DPrqlHE-VqJlkXFBbA6t03TRTjo9Ojs24_yNLfx_jgug/viewform?usp=sf_link

Cancer research matters. I know because I was diagnosed with breast cancer in Sept. of 2023. I completed five months of chemo, a double mastectomy with 25 lymph nodes removed, and radiation treatments. And even then, I still need to take two years of oral chemo and 7-10 years of hormone blockers to reduce the chances of recurrence.
Cancer research can help with earlier identification (my mass was quite large and therefore had been growing for at least nine years, but was missed on multiple mammograms), and also provide better treatment options that have fewer side effects, are less toxic, and don't damage the heart and lungs.
Please help me support cancer research by making a contribution to my fundraiser and sharing this page with your family and friends. Every dollar I raise funds advanced, innovative research through the Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation, as well as their healthcare partners. This foundation is particularly meaningful because I am a recreationally competitive figure skater who has admired Scott Hamilton since I was little, and even more now as I follow his work to advocate for cancer research and his ongoing journey as a cancer patient himself.
Figure skating helped me make it through my medical treatment and procedures (I continued to skate throughout the process). In fact, one week after finishing chemo, I passed my Adult Gold Skating Skills test and competed in my club competition, where I received an award for adult skating and finished first in both events, qualifying me to skate at USFS National Showcase this August. I also passed an ice dance test right before going in for surgery in April. In August, less than one year after my diagnosis, I competed four events at National Showcase, where I took home a Gold in duets and a Bronze in Emotional Performance and brought home my personal best scores.
In the year that everyone (including myself) thought would be my worst year skating year, I ended up having my best skating year since I started in 2011. And in return, figure skating, along with the support of my friends and family, kept me healthy, energized (most of the time!) and motivated as I received care.
By supporting me, you provide vital support to the Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation to support research for all kinds of cancer. When we come together, we can make a difference!
Thank you!
