My introduction to the harsh realities of cancer came early, at just 9 years old, when I lost both my grandfather and great-grandfather. By 16, I began what would become a lifelong journey of medical monitoring for colon cancer. Miraculously, my mother survived two cancer diagnoses, but my dad ultimately lost his brave battle with pancreatic cancer. Over the years, this disease continued to reach into my life and take the people I love—including my uncle, my sister-in-law, and my former skating coach.

In 2025, my fear became reality when I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Follicular Lymphoma. While my prognosis was thankfully very good, this form of cancer is currently incurable. On October 29, 2026, I will celebrate one year of remission. And while that milestone is a true joy, I live with the quiet reality that at some point, my cancer may return.
That is why skating for this cause matters so much to me. Skate to Eliminate Cancer is the absolute culmination of my life’s passions. Whether the goal is a full cure or simply better, kinder treatments, every advancement requires critical funding. I fundraise with a singular hope: that one day, families won't have to bear the pain and loss that cancer leaves in its wake.
Having been a figure skater for over 50 years, skating and fundraising for this life-changing event is deeply personal. It is my way of fighting back.
