If you're visiting this page, you probably already know that I lost my father to complications following a ten-year battle with lung cancer. His treatment, like that of many others, was nearly as brutal as the disease. Over the last two years, my mom has been fighting it as well--her cancer diagnosis is multiple myeloma (in her blood plasma). Her treatments have been less severe than the ones my dad endured a few years back, but there is still so much room for improvement.

I'm skating in a hockey game in honor of what would've been Charles Schulz's 100th birthday. All funds raised will benefit The Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation. (scottcares.org) The "Sk8 to Elimin8 cancer" event will help fund new treatment strategies that will attempt to eradicate cancer without doing so much damage to the patient's healthy systems--something near and dear to all who've battled this condition.
