Cancer knows no bounds of gender, age, or race - it impacts everyone. This year it's estimated that a little more than 1.9 million new cancer cases will be diagnosed in the US alone, and 609,360 people will die. That's more than 1 person every minute dying because of this terrible disease.
The Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation (CARES) is proud to partner with Snoopy's Home Ice to present Sk8 to Elimin8 Cancer™ at Snoopy's Home Ice: Celebrating the 100th Birthday of Charles Schulz! Proceeds from this event will support CARES' national cancer research and our healthcare partners at Providence Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.
Here's How You Can Get Involved!

The Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation is dedicated to changing the future of cancer by funding advanced, innovative research that treats the cancer while sparing the patient. CARES is an established 501(c)3 and a national identity in the cancer community. CARES, which stands for Cancer Alliance for Research, Education, and Survivorship, is creating a cancer network built upon strong partnerships with leading institutions, cancer support groups, and researchers to improve the quality of life and provide better outcomes for those living with cancer.
A portion of the net proceeds from this event will stay local and support our healthcare partners at Providence Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital and Providence Cancer Center.
Providence Cancer Center is looking forward to honoring Santa Rosa's own very special cartoonist, Charles Schulz, on the anniversary of his 100th birthday. Sparky lost his fight with colorectal cancer in February 2000 at the age of 77. Today, colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer diagnosed in the US, but thanks to clinical trials, treatment advances are being made.
More research is needed to improve outcomes for patients with colorectal cancer. With funding from Sk8 to Elimin8 Cancer™ and to honor Sparky, Providence Cancer Center will expand their clinical trial treatments through the National Cancer Institute so patients can be treated with cutting-edge technology close to home. These studies include immunotherapy and novel targeted therapy medicines, which have fewer side effects than chemotherapy and improve patients quality of life during and after treatment.
