Join us for Sk8 to Elimin8 Cancer® Simsbury, Connecticut
May 2, 2026, at the International Skating Center of Connecticut
May 2, 2026, at the International Skating Center of Connecticut
Cancer knows no boundaries, no gender, no age, no race. It touches every family and every community. In 2026 alone, more than 2.1 million Americans will hear the words “you have cancer,” a 3.5% increase from the year before. And 626,140 lives will be lost - that’s more than one person every minute. Behind every number is a face, a family, and a future forever changed.
The International Skating Center of Connecticut is proud to partner with the Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation (CARES) to present Sk8 to Elimin8 Cancer® Simsbury! Proceeds from this event will support CARES' national cancer research and their healthcare partners at Hartford HealthCare.

The Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation is dedicated to changing the future of cancer by funding advanced, innovative research that treats the cancer while sparing the patient. CARES is an established 501(c)3 and a national identity in the cancer community. CARES, which stands for Cancer Alliance for Research, Education, and Survivorship, is creating a cancer network built upon strong partnerships with leading institutions, cancer support groups, and researchers to improve the quality of life and provide better outcomes for those living with cancer. A portion of the net proceeds from this event will stay local and support our Connecticut healthcare partners, Hartford HealthCare.
Hartford HealthCare’s Cancer Institute has achieved a groundbreaking milestone as the first health system in the nation designated as an MSK Care Partner under Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center’s newly launched MSK Care Partners program, creating a transformative opportunity to expand access to world-class cancer care and research across Connecticut and beyond. This partnership addresses longstanding barriers to clinical trial participation, such as distance and cost, by bringing MSK’s pioneering trials, including breakthrough immunotherapy studies, directly to local communities so patients can receive potentially life-saving investigational treatments close to home, surrounded by their support systems. Strategic philanthropic investment will allow Hartford HealthCare to fully realize this opportunity by expanding clinical trial capacity, strengthening research infrastructure and expertise drawing on MSK’s research enterprise model, streamlining patient identification and enrollment, and ensuring equitable access for underserved and rural populations. With the support of the Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation, more patients can benefit from the most advanced cancer treatments, regardless of zip code or economic circumstance.
