Marcus Whitney is a Founding Partner of Jumpstart Health Investors (JHI), the most active early-stage healthcare venture capital firm in America, where he leads Jumpstart Nova, the first healthcare venture fund in America investing exclusively in Black-founded and led startups. He is the co-founder and minority owner of Nashville Soccer Club, author of the Amazon #1 best-selling book Create and Orchestrate, and a member of the board of the Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation, Healthcare Finance Management Association, Celtic Bank, the Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum, the Nashville Convention and Visitors Corporation, and OZ Arts.
Marcus is married with two adult sons and actively competes in Jiu Jitsu. He is an IBJJF World Master Champion, training on the competition team at Renzo Gracie Nashville under Shawn Williams. He is the 2022 Master 4, Blue Belt, Ultra Heavyweight World Master Champion and finished his 2022 season with a record of 21-4. In 2023, Marcus will compete again in the Master 4, Blue Belt, Ultra Heavyweight division, with a goal of being #1.
Marcus is dedicating his 2023 Jiu Jitsu season to the Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation and raising vital funds to support innovative cancer research.
