Steps to Stop Cancer is a nationwide peer-to-peer fundraiser for the Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation (CARES). Countless individuals have been touched by cancer and it is our mission to Turn Cancer Upside Down™ together!

Register to Participate and Fundraise

Through individual donations and sponsorships, participants raise money on behalf of CARES through their own networks of friends, family, coworkers, local businesses, and community supporters. Steps to Stop Cancer fundraising events culminate either in community 5ks or virtually!

Donate to Support Cancer Research

By donating to a Steps to Stop Cancer participant's fundraising goal, you're not only supporting them and funding innovative cancer research, you're also supporting our local Charity of Choice.  CARES is proud to partner with a like-minded Charity of Choice to make an impact in each hosting community.  The Charity of Choice will receive a portion of the event's net proceeds to support either cancer research, support services, or ancillary care. 

Celebrate with Us

Your efforts are worth celebrating!  Virtually, we celebrate by sharing our race bibs, progress photos, and through our event pages on Facebook.  In-person road races might include vendor exhibits, cook outs, tailgating tents, photos booths, or any other fun activities planned by your Local Organizing Committee!  Check the Event Info page to learn how you can Celebrate in your community.

Your support of Steps to Stop Cancer helps change the future of cancer care and provides vital funding to research experts across the nation.  Since our establishment in 2014, CARES has provided funding to 24 cancer non-profits for research, support services, and ancillary care.  By working together, we can and we will Turn Cancer Upside Down™!

Our Founder Scott Hamilton, who spent most of his career upside down in the rink doing his signature backflip, has taken his platform as an Olympic Gold Medalist and used his force for good, establishing the Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation (CARES) and empowering all of us to Turn Cancer Upside Down™! Launched in 2014, CARES is national 501(c)3 dedicated to changing the future of cancer by funding advanced, innovative research that treats the cancer while sparing the patient.
Thanks to our dedicated community of supporters, CARES has provided funding to like-minded charities nationwide for research, cancer patient support services and cancer patient ancillary services. CARES, which stands for Cancer Alliance for Research, Education, and Survivorship, is creating a network built on strong partnerships with leading institutions, cancer organizations, and researchers from across the nation.
