Join us for Sk8 to Elimin8 Cancer® Fairbanks, Alaska
Frozen 5K on October 9, 2026, from 5-7pm at the Carlson Center
Cancer knows no boundaries, no gender, no age, no race. It touches every family and every community. In 2026 alone, more than 2.1 million Americans will hear the words “you have cancer,” a 3.5% increase from the year before. And 626,140 lives will be lost - that’s more than one person every minute. Behind every number is a face, a family, and a future forever changed.
The Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation (CARES) is proud to partner with Fairbanks North Star Borough to present Sk8 to Elimin8 Cancer® Fairbanks, Alaska! Proceeds from this event will support CARES' national cancer research and our local healthcare partners, Circle of Hope at the J. Michael Carroll Cancer Center in Fairbanks.

CARES is an established 501(c)3 and a national identity in the cancer community. CARES, which stands for Cancer Alliance for Research, Education, and Survivorship, is creating a cancer network built upon strong partnerships with leading institutions, cancer support groups, and researchers to improve the quality of life and provide better outcomes for those living with cancer.A portion of the net proceeds from this event will stay local and support our local healthcare partners, Circle of Hope at the J. Michael Carroll Cancer Center.
The Circle of Hope program was established to provide vital support to cancer patients in Fairbanks, assisting them throughout their treatment journey—from diagnosis to survivorship. A key milestone in our mission was the successful fundraising for a state-of-the-art Tomosynthesis Mammography machine at Fairbanks Imaging & Breast Center. With that goal achieved, Circle of Hope has expanded its mission to support patients battling all types of cancer, helping them navigate the challenges of their treatment.
Donations to Circle of Hope offer invaluable support to cancer patients and their families in numerous ways:
- Comfort Items - We provide patients with essential items to enhance their comfort during treatment, helping them manage the challenges of their journey with greater ease.
- Emotional Support - Circle of Hope facilitates support groups that empower patients to share their experiences and find strength in community.
- Employee Education - We offer specialized training opportunities to ensure our staff stays informed about the latest treatment protocols, enhancing the care provided to patients.
