Join us for Sk8 to Elimin8 Cancer® Eagle River, Alaska

Cancer knows no bounds of gender, age, or race - it impacts everyone.  In 2024, a little more than 2 million new cancer cases will be diagnosed in the US alone, and 611,720 people will die.  That's more than 1 person every minute dying because of this terrible disease.  

The Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation (CARES) proudly presents the fourth annual Sk8 to Elimin8 Cancer® Eagle River, Alaska!  Proceeds from this event will support CARES' national cancer research and our healthcare partners at Providence Alaska Children's Hospital.  This year, we are proud to celebrate both the 40th Anniversary of Scott Hamilton's Olympic Gold Medal and the 40th Anniversary of the MAC Center!

Here's How You Can Get Involved!
 
Participate and Fundraise
1) Register for $35 to start fundraising and receive a Sk8 to Elimin8 Cancer® t-shirt!  You'll receive items from our NEW recognition program as a token of our thanks for your fundraising efforts! 

2) Raise funds for cancer research by asking your network to donate.  Set a goal to earn rewards through your philanthropy.  Every dollar you raise supports critical cancer research through CARES and our healthcare partners.
  
3) Celebrate with us at our Frozen 5k!  For more details, see below. 
 
Support a Participant by Donating 
When you donate to a participant's fundraising goal, you are not only supporting them but providing crucial cancer research funding for the Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation and our healthcare partners.
 
Celebrate with Us!
Anyone can attend our celebrations!  All admissions and door donations will continue to support our fundraising efforts for cancer research.
 
Sk8 to Elimin8 Cancer® Frozen 5k
Saturday, November 2, 2024, 12:45-2:15pm at the MAC Center
Pre Registration Required
Skate Rental Available, $4 per person
Who do you skate for?  Everyone is invited to join us for an on-ice 5k (35 laps, untimed and non-competitive) to honor those you know impacted by cancer. 
 

The Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation is dedicated to changing the future of cancer by funding advanced, innovative research that treats the cancer while sparing the patient. CARES is an established 501(c)3 and a national identity in the cancer community.  CARES, which stands for Cancer Alliance for Research, Education, and Survivorship, is creating a cancer network built upon strong partnerships with leading institutions, cancer support groups, and researchers to improve the quality of life and provide better outcomes for those living with cancer. 

A percentage of the net proceeds from this event will stay local and support our healthcare partners, to be announced.
