Join Us For
Sk8 to Elimin8 Cancer® Detroit, Michigan
February 12, 2026, at the Rink at Campus Martius Park

Cancer knows no boundaries, no gender, no age, no race. It touches every family and every community. In 2026 alone, more than 2.1 million Americans will hear the words “you have cancer,” a 3.5% increase from the year before. And 626,140 lives will be lost - that’s more than one person every minute. Behind every number is a face, a family, and a future forever changed.

CARES is proud to partner with the Downtown Detroit Partnership to present the 8th Annual Sk8 to Elimin8 Cancer® Detroit!  Proceeds from this event will support CARES' national cancer research and our healthcare partners here in Michigan, the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute.

Here's How You Can Get Involved!

Participate and Fundraise
1) Register for $35 to start fundraising and receive your Sk8 to Elimin8 Cancer® t-shirt.  We'll celebrate your efforts with items from our recognition program, and you can earn special Detroit-only incentives including opportunities to skate in our Celebration Ice Show!

2) Grow our community by asking your family and friends to sign up with you or donate to your page.  Post about why supporting cancer research matters to you and invite others to join you on social media!

3) Fundraise for cancer research!  Every dollar you raise supports critical cancer research through CARES and our healthcare partners at Karmanos Cancer Institute.

3) Celebrate with us at our Ice Show!  Details to be announced.

Support a Participant by Donating
Every donation to a participant’s fundraising goal makes a meaningful difference, supporting their efforts and fueling vital cancer research through the Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation. CARES funds cancer research at NCI-accredited facilities across the nation, and we are proud to partner with Karmanos Cancer Institute.

Celebrate with Us!
Anyone can attend our celebration!  All admissions and door donations will continue to support our fundraising efforts for cancer research.
