Over the last several years I have turned my passion into purpose, combining athleticism and caring into cycling for a cause. When you lose a loved one to cancer, you dedicate yourself to living and working to ensure a better future for those diagnosed with cancer.

Last year, I was honored to serve as a cycling mentor to Scott Williams during the 1st Annual Erase the Trace bike ride for the Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation. On September 11, 2019, Mr. Williams was diagnosed with glioblastoma multiforme (GBM). Mr. Williams has passed the median life expectancy for a GBM patient, and incredibly, I was able to help him fulfill his lifelong dream of biking the full 444-mile Natchez Trace Parkway.

Glioblastoma is considered the most aggressive form of brain cancer with a median survival rate of 9-12 months and is one of the most complex and treatment-resistant cancers. In the century since glioblastoma was discovered, there are still just a few drugs FDA approved to treat it and research is grievously underfunded.

Inspired by last year’s ride, Scott Hamilton committed to cycling the 444-mile Natchez Trace Parkway and hosting the 2nd Annual Erase the Trace.

I am pleased to be riding alongside Scott as we dedicate ourselves to Erase the Trace of glioblastoma.
