"In my 30s I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. This diagnosis was a tough pill to swallow, I was going to a surgeon to get a "cyst" removed when I was diagnosed. Suddenly my life was turned upside down, but I knew that no matter what I had to go through to survive that my only option was to live because I was not going to leave my daughter. I went through chemo, radiation, an experimental treatment, and underwent a double bilateral mastectomy. The worst part of the treatment process for me was getting chemo. I sat there with all these other people who also had cancer and wanted to live, but over time I got better and as I looked around not everyone else was. It made me think "why do I deserve to live, but these other people who are fighting just as hard don't get to?" In a way, I have survivor's guilt because it's not fair to the other people that they didn't get to continue on with their lives. Now don't get me wrong I am more than grateful that I survived and get to live my life to the fullest every day, but I will always think about the people who didn't get to use the word survivor.

When I learned about Glioblastoma I was shocked at how little is known about it and how few treatment options are available. I consider myself lucky that when I was diagnosed treatment options were readily available and that's all I want for other cancer patients, that sense of security and hope. Over 10,000 people a year will lose their life to Glioblastoma. Please consider donating to my Glioblastoma fundraiser, the proceeds fund much-needed research. Together we can change the meaning of a cancer diagnosis from fear to hope." Gretchen Klemen
