Erase the Trace
Biking for Glioblastoma
Natchez Trace Parkway, May 3-7, 2022

Join CARES for the 2nd Annual Erase the Trace, a charity bike ride along the Natchez Trace, fundraising for Glioblastoma cancer research.  Participate as a virtual rider or join us in person and bike to honor those you know and love impacted by cancer.

On September 11, 2019, Scott Williams was diagnosed with Glioblastoma Multiforme, arguably the deadliest type of cancer and a disease with no known cause and no known cure. Despite being the most common malignant brain tumor in adults, no notable improvement has been made in survival rates in three decades.  After successful surgery, countless prayers, and multiple means of attacking the disease, Scott has passed the median life expectancy for GBM with little or no loss of his cognitive or physical ability.  In 2021, Scott partnered with CARES to make a life-long goal a reality, biking all 444 miles of the Natchez Trace while raising over $30,000.

Inspired by Scott Williams' commitment to fundraising and advocacy for Glioblastoma Multiforme,  CARES Founder Scott Hamilton has committed to join the 2nd Annual Erase the Trace ride in 2022, and will complete all 444 miles of the Trace himself to raise vital funding for all those impacted by cancer and Glioblastoma.

"Last year’s Erase The Trace inspired me like no other event we have ever done. The hope, drive, and bravery of Glioblastoma patient Scott Williams awakened a part of my heart that I hadn’t realized needed awakening. The instant we welcomed Scott to the finish line at the end of his ride, I knew it was something I had to do next year.

I can’t wait to feel the wind in my face, the burn of my legs, and the pounding of my heart as I too rise to the 444-mile challenge.  I am so excited to know that with each push of the pedal, we are getting that much closer to positively changing outcomes for people facing brain cancer.”

Here's How You Can Get Involved

Participate and Fundraise

1) Register and join our Erase the Trace fundraising efforts.  You can register to complete the full 444-mile ride, a portion of the ride, or join us as a "virtual rider" biking at home or simply fundraising to show your support.

2) Raise funds by asking your network to donate and support Glioblastoma awareness and innovative cancer research.

3) Celebrate the difference you've made!  Ride the Natchez Trace and celebrate virtually by sharing photos and your cancer story with us online with the hashtag #EraseTheTrace.

Support a Participant by Donating
By donating to an Erase the Trace participant's fundraising goal, you are not only supporting them but providing crucial research funding for the Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation.  Your generosity advances treatment options for Glioblastoma and changes the future of cancer care.

Celebrate with Us
Registered riders will join us along the Natchez Trace, but don't miss our virtual celebration!  Share your photos, your cancer journey, and watch the riders log their progress on their personal fundraising pages.

Your efforts are worth celebrating!  Erase the Trace culminates with our ride on the Natchez Trace Parkway for registered riders, but that's not the only way to celebrate.  Virtually, we'll celebrate by sharing our race bibs, progress photos, tracking our progress, and through our group page on Facebook.
