Erase the Trace
Biking for Glioblastoma
Natchez Trace Parkway, April 25 - May 5, 2021

On September 11, 2019, Scott Williams was diagnosed with Glioblastoma Multiforme, arguably the deadliest type of cancer and a disease with no known cause and no known cure. Despite being the most common malignant brain tumor in adults, no notable improvement has been made in survival rates in three decades.

After successful surgery, countless prayers and multiple means of attacking the disease, Scott has passed the median life expectancy for GBM with little or no loss of  his cognitive or physical ability.  It's now Scott's goal to bike all 444 miles of the Natchez Trace and shine a light of hope for all those impacted by cancer and GBM.

"I have been blessed by countless people who have cared for my wife and me emotionally and financially. So while I’m still able, I want to bless others who find themselves struggling with brain cancer, especially GBM.
In the days after my brain surgery, I was enormously impacted by Scott Hamilton’s message to Live Your Days.  His encouragement to stay strong and positive helped me to think first of others.  Accompanied by a peace from God that goes beyond any explanation, I have found myself more encouraged, positive and strong, both physically and emotionally. That has given me both a desire and the opportunity to encourage others.

I grew up not far from the Natchez Trace in Jackson, Mississippi, and have long wanted to cycle the entire 444 miles of the historic parkway.  Since the one-year anniversary of my surgery I have been training daily and am confident that I have the stamina and resolve to complete the ride, raising funds for critical cancer research and awareness for Glioblastoma Multiforme."

Here's How You Can Get Involved

Participate and Fundraise
1) Register and join our Erase the Trace fundraising efforts.  You can register to complete the full 444 mile ride, a portion of the ride, bike along at home, or join us as a "virtual rider" who will not bike.

2) Raise funds by asking your network to donate and support Glioblastoma awareness and innovative cancer research.  Set a goal to earn incentives and rewards through your philanthropy.

3) Celebrate the difference you've made!  It's time to ride the Natchez Trace and celebrate virtually by sharing photos and your cancer story with us online with the hashtag #EraseTheTrace

Support a Participant by Donating
By donating to an Erase the Trace participant's fundraising goal, you are not only supporting them but providing crucial research funding for the Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation and CARTI.  Your generosity will advance treatment options for Glioblastoma and change the future of cancer care.

Celebrate with Us
Registered riders will join us along the Natchez Trace, but don't miss our virtual celebration!  Share your photos, your cancer journey, and watch the rider's log their progress on their personal fundraising pages.

A portion of the net proceeds from this event will support our healthcare partners at CARTI in Arkansas.

CARTI is focused on delivering the most leading-edge cancer treatment options in a compassionate, patient-centered environment. Their team of expert medical, surgical and radiation oncologists and diagnostic radiologists work closely with additional providers to offer comprehensive cancer care, all within a single network. While the treatment plan for each patient will differ in relation to the type, location and stage of their disease, CARTI’s level of care will always be the same – world class.
